This shake tastes great on a hot summer day! You can make it with your favorite frozen berries…strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries…you can use just one kind of berry, or mix in two, three or four different kinds. You can also substitute vanilla frozen yogurt for the vanilla ice cream. This recipe makes about 4 servings.
SUMMER BERRY SHAKE by NancyCreative
- 1 quart (or 4 well-packed cups) vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt
- 6 ounces (or 1 1/2 cups) unsweetened frozen berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and/or blueberries)
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups milk, soymilk, or almond milk (depending on how thick you want it)
Combine half of the ice cream (or frozen yogurt), berries, and milk in a blender and puree until smooth (you may need to stop occasionally to stir the mixture with a spoon–or you can let the ice cream soften a little before you begin, for easier mixing). Pour into glasses. Follow same instructions with the remaining half of the ingredients, and pour into the rest of the glasses. If you want to add a topping, you can add some whipped cream or sprinkle a few berries on top of each shake. It’s a refreshing summer treat!
